Inside the Huddle: Slot Receivers

Leary looks to lead Orlando Edgewater to state title in 2020!

ESS is going to breakdown the receiver position for the class of 2021. We have broken down the position by ranking outside receivers and slot receivers on their own. This years group of slot receivers may be one of the best in recent Florida memory. There are close to 30 receivers who play inside that have been offered D1 scholarships at this time. The number should grow in the coming months.

  1. Christian Leary-Edgewater-5’10-175: (Committed to Alabama): Leary can beat you on offense or special teams. He is a big play threat that needs the football in his hands. Get him in space and Leary can make something happen. If you need validation of Leary talent ask the Saint Thomas defensive coaches who could not stop him in the state title game.
  2. Mario Williams-Plant City -5’10-165: (Committed to Oklahoma): Williams may one of the top 2-3 slot receivers in his class. Put him on defense and he may rank as one of the top cover corners. The kid can flat out fly and that is what college coaches are going to look at when they watch him film.
  3. Trevonte Ruker-Vanguard-5’11-170: (Committed to UF): Rucker will be one of the premier players in Florida. He is a good athlete who can line up anywhere on the field to make plays. Look for him to still be heavily recruited even though Rucker is committed.
  4. Yulkeith Brown-Miami Central-5’10-170: Brown is electric with the football in his hands. He is one of the most explosive players in Florida since Devin Hester. He can play running back, receiver or defensive back. He will be one of the more heavily recruited players in South Florida.
