Sunday Morning QB – 10/4/2026

College Football is almost at the half way point. There are only 15 unbeaten teams left standing. With many of these teams playing each other including next week Alabama vs. Georgia the number will shrink in coming weeks. It is getting tougher and tougher to win every week. One loss used to mean your season was over with. Now you can lose a game. You can probably lose two games and eventually you will see a three loss team in the playoffs. We have enjoyed the start of college football and the drama has just started.

Big win for the USC Trojans last night. They won with: surprise/surprise their defense. They got a fumble recovery which was returned for a touchdown. The defense came up with a big stop for a touchdown. What is crazy is the talk of Lincoln Riley being fired. I love how the experts in the media pile on coaches when they lose. Lincoln Riley is 95-29 as a head football coach. He has a 76 percent winning percentage. He is 43, still making him one of the youngest coaches in college football. This win now at all cost is stupid. USC this past year finally invested in their NIL. They were way behind other programs in NIL and facilities. The investment paid off as their leading receiver is Freshman Kayden Dixon-Wyatt. He has 25 receptions for 372 yards and 3 touchdowns. Their other top receiver is Trent Mosley- He has been hurt the past two weeks. Their fourth leading receiver is TE Mark Bowman who is special. On defense go and watch who played great on the final drive it was Luke Waffle. He is a freshman DE for USC. He has 22 tackles and leads the team in tackles for loss with 4.5. If the Trojans want to pay 70 plus million for Riley to go away someone else will be more than glad with taking him off their hands.

That leads to Penn State. How is firing James Franklin going. Penn State has now lost in back to back weeks to Northwestern and Wisconsin. The Badgers have a coach on the hot seat and Northwestern is not known for being one of the elite teams in the Big 10. Northwestern did not just beat Penn State they dominated them. Penn State looks like a team that may struggle to make a bowl game this year.

PROPS – FAU – They are 4-1. Coach Zach Kittley has the Owls at the top of the American Conference. They got a big win over their Rival FIU a few weeks back and now come off two impressive wins. The Owls are led by quarterback Caden Veltkamp. The conference title will most likely come down to FAU, Memphis and UTSA. The roadrunners from UTSA did not look impressive against Rice. They have a big game next week at home vs. USF. Loser probably is out of contention.

University of Miami – They put the rest of college football on notice yesterday with a big win over Clemson. The Tigers never really threatened Miami. It took all of one play for the Hurricanes to score on offense. Their defense pretty much such down an anemic Clemson Tigers offense. When the Hurricanes get a big game and are motivated they will be tough to beat. Their defense showed up and they are just starting to get some players back on that side of the football.

Pittsburgh got a big win over Virginia Tech on the road. That being said the 5-0 Pitt Panthers lost their starting QB to an ACL injury and he is now out for the season. They went from a potential ACC finalist team to asking where they go now.

Duke….Manny Diaz has they primed for another ACC title run. They are 4-0. The Blue Devils favored to make it to the finals in the ACC. We are not talking about Basketball. This is football we are discussing.

Baylor looks to be for real. They went into Arizona State last night and put a beating on the Sun Devils. The Big 12 has Texas Tech, BYU, Baylor, Utah, Oklahoma State, Arizona and Houston all vying for a spot as the top dog in their conference. Teams like Kansas State and Iowa State can be the spoilers. This conference is deep this year with top team. Excited to see where this conference goes.

Big 10 – Nebraska is off to their best start in over a decade. They are 5-0. Minnesota Gophers got a big win over Michigan. The first time they have beaten the Wolverines at home since the 1970’s. Coach PJ Fleck should be on the radar this off-season once again as a head coaching candidate. Got to give props to Chip Kelly as he once again one of the top offensive coordinators in college football. Northwestern offense is going to be tough to stop. Ohio State looked good against Iowa. Indiana went into New Jersey and destroyed Rutgers. The bottom of the conference is not very good. There are about 5-6 teams which could all have losing seasons. Michigan is 3-2 and wondering did we hire the right coach or not.

North Dakota – Pay Attention college football fans. They are for real. In their first season of D1 football they are 5-0 and could make the playoffs. Boise State is the leader in the dugout in the Pac 12 but keep an eye on Oregon State. They are the surprise team of college football this year.

Who’s on the hot seat – Boston College is 2-3 and we do not see many wins on the horizon. Coach O’Brien could have been fired last off-season but BC administrators were hoping he could turn it around this year. The Eagles are not good. We expect this to be one of the first openings of the college football season. They could make a chance in the next 2 weeks.

Heisman Front Runner – Jeremiah Smith – Best player in college football. Now that Kemario Taylor had a tough day against Alabama, Smith is the odds on favorite at this time.
