Top 2012 prospect John Theus!

Top 2012 prospect John Theus!

Jacksonville Bolles is the power in Class 2B. Not much will change as Bolles should once again be a favorite in Class 2B to make a run at the state title game in Orlando. This year will be tougher because Bolles has lost some very good players on both sides of the ball. Teams that have a chance to knock off the mighty Bolles are Chaminade, Gulliver Prep, Pensacola Catholic and possibly Lake Highland Prep who won 10 games last season. ESS will break down 2B to see who makes it to Orlando.

Wilder chooses Seminoles!

James Wilder is one of the top rated prospects in the state of Florida. On Wednesday he decided to get his college choice out of the way. He selected Florida State University. He was being recruited as both a running back and linebacker at the next level. Look for Wilder to have success on either side of the football.

Inside the Huddle: Miami Norland

The Duke is in charge!

The Duke is in charge!

It has been a long time since Miami Norland has been in the discussion for a state title. This year Norland has a team that many around the program feel good about. Coach Daryle Heidelberg has a pretty good team coming back in 2010. They are led by running back Randy “Duke” Johnson. He should be one of the top players in the class of 2012. Not only will they have Johnson but Norland has a very good group of receivers. They are led by  Brandon Snell who is coming off an impressive spring. Curtis Mitchell, Dareen Owi and Gary Lodge give the Vikings plenty of weapons at their disposal this upcoming season. The guy getting them the ball is quarterback is Benji Philippe. He needs to step up his game for Norland to have a legit shot at making a run this year. Up front the Vikings will have a few good prospects, Pierre Meignan (2011), Teko Powell (2012) and William Townsend (2013).  Keith Brown will be one of the top linebackers in the class of 2012 so he is also a player to watch out for. ESS will break down the rest of their team as Norland gets ready for the 201o season.

Kadeem Thomas one of Tallahassee rising stars!

Kadeem Thomas one of Tallahassee rising stars!

One thing is for certain no one can say Class 2A does not have big time football. Cocoa is coming off back to back Championships. Look for them to once again be one of the top teams in Class 2A. This year 2A is wide open and it would not surprise us to see Glades Central, American Heritage Plantation, Robinson, Godby or Madison County give Cocoa a run for their money. Each of these teams returns most of their star players from last season and it would not shock us to see them beat Cocoa somewhere along the way. ESS will break down each team and give you insight into one of the best classifications in Florida.

Tony Pasada-2011

Tony Pasada-2011

Posada and Phillip Ely of Tampa Plant decided to get their college choices out of the way yesterday. Posada is moving up to Michigan next year and will play for the maize and blue. Ely surprised everyone by picking the SEC school least likely to land his Commitment University of Alabama. Most figured it would come down to Ole Miss or LSU. They were not the only Tampa are prospect to give their pledge this past week. Tampa Jefferson wide receiver Chris Moore also decided to end his recruitment and commit to Big East Champion University of Cincinnati. UCF continues to be a big time player in recruiting by landing one of the best Orlando prospects this year in Deion Green of Edgewater. Carl Williams of First Coast, Shane Coleman (Clay), and Keith Baxter also ended their recruitments. ESS will break down this group of prospects and what to expect out of these players at the next level.  (more…)

Andre Davis leads a loaded Jefferson team into 2010!

Andre Davis leads a loaded Jefferson team into 2010!

Heading into 2010 the most competitive classification in Florida will be 3A. There are as many as 10 teams that have a legit shot at a state title. Pensacola is trying to repeat as state champions. Last year they beat Belen Jesuit in finals that no one could have forecasted. Coach Stuart at Belen returns a very solid squad in 2010. Look for Belen to once again be a thorn in the side of many of the top teams in South Florida. ESS will break down class 3A and give you the favorites and possible dark horses to make it to Orlando.

O'Leary looking to lead team to back to back championships!

O'Leary looking to lead team to back to back championships!

It took some time for Coach Jack Daniels to get over the hump but now that he has looked for Dwyer to be a perennial power in Palm Beach County. Dwyer returns plenty of starters from last year. The headliners are Jacoby Brissett (QB) and Nick O’Leary. With O’Leary, Dwyer has potentially the best player in the state of Florida for the 2nd year in a row. Brissett will be getting him the ball plenty this year. Those are not the only players Dwyer has heading into the 2010 season. ESS will breakdown the rest of the bracket and who has the best shot at knocking Dwyer off.

Mike Blakley looks to lead Manatee to 5A Crown!

In class 5A Tampa Plant is the reining champions. They will be looking to win their third straight championship title. This year’s team will have some holes to fill but you can bet that Coach Robert Weiner will have his team ready to play. Some of the teams that have a shot at knocking off Plant would be Saint Thomas, Manatee, Lakeland and possibly a dark horse like First Coast. Here is ESS breakdown of Class 5A as these teams get ready to get onto the practice field tomorrow.

Looking to help lead team to three-peat!

Looking to help lead team to three-peat!

Last year when Glades Central played against Cocoa it was two of the top programs in high school football facing off against each other. One player that stood out in this great match up was Chevelle Buie. It is not often you see a player make a team like Glades Central not seem all that fast. When you consider that year in and year out Glades Central is one of the fastest teams in the country that is saying something. Buie was one of the main reasons why Cocoa seems to have the faster team last fall. ESS will take a look at Buie and what he looks to do in 2010.
