One of Browards finest: Jarrard Randall

One of Browards finest: Jarrard Randall

For the better part of this past decade Chaminade High School was one of the best football programs in Florida. They had won two state championships and were in contention for a few more. In 2008 the program fell of the map before regaining the form in 2009. It was not till the 2nd round of the playoffs that anyone took notice of Chaminade. They were faced with the daunting task of beating Pahokee High who had won five titles in the previous 6 seasons. Most felt that Chaminade would just be a bump in the road for Pahokee 6 title. Those that felt that way could not be more wrong as Chaminade upset Pahokee and made it all the way to the state semi-finals before losing to Tampa Catholic. This year Chaminade should be the favorite to come out of the South as they are one of the best teams in Broward County in 2010. They are led by super talented senior quarterback Jarrard Randall. Along with Randall Chaminade have two other prospects that are starting to draw interest as well. Running back/defensive back Curtric Evans and defensive back John Aiken. All three players will end up with D1 offers before all is said and done.

Our first look is at Jarard Randall. It was as a freshman over at Miami Norland that ESS got their first chance to watch him play. As a freshman he already had one of the strongest arms in the state of Florida. Randall can make every throw. What makes him special is his ability to break a defense down with his legs. You know Randall is fast when he burned the Pahokee defense all game long. Even though Randall can run with the ball it is his ability to throw it that will wow coaches. His arm is so strong and while that is strength of his game it also hurts him. Randall has had to learn how to take something off his passes especially when he needs to throw with some touch. One of his favorite targets this season will be Curtric Evans. The talented athlete can play running back, receiver or defensive back. Evans has also made his presence felt on special teams. He is one of the better kick/punt return men in South Florida. He has to be accounted for whether on offense or defense.(Highlight Video)

The last of Chaminade prospects we will look at is Jon Aiken. Against Miami Pace it was Aiken play that helped them win the ball game. Even on the final play of the game it was Aiken who kept Pace out of the end-zone. He can block kicks on special teams. He can come up and make the game saving tackle on a running play. Lastly he can go back into coverage and make plays in the passing game. He is one of the more complete players that we have watched on film. Aiken also plays with a ton of passion on the football field. (Highlight Video).

Final Thoughts: Heading into spring football Chaminade should end up one of the better teams in Florida. They are stacked on both sides of the football. They are now motivated not only to prove last year was not a fluke but also make it to the state finals and bring home a crown. We expect them to be one of the favorites in their classification.
