Darryl Monroe-Olympia LB trying to make a name for himself!
Last year Olympia High sent two players to Northwestern; Trevor Simien-QB and Rashard Jackson-WR. Both prospects were amongst the top prospects at their position in Central Florida. This year Olympia brings back one of the most talented junior classes in the state. When you look at their junior class there could be as many as 4-5 players who could receive D1 offers. The top prospect for Olympia this year will be Deon Green. He has only played one year of football for Olympia. Along with Green on defense Olympia has a top rated safety in Corian Hamilton. He already has offers from some BCS school. The third prospect on the Olympia football team that will draw some interest this spring is running back Jairus Pace.
Other prospects on Olympia team we will take a look at are receivers Henry Eaddy and Isaiah Myers, offensive lineman Collin Sheppy and linebacker Darryl Monroe. All of these prospects should sign with a college next February.
Our first prospect we will break down is Deon Green. He measures in at a little over 6′2, 270 pounds. He plays defensive end but his more natural position will be inside at tackle. He has only played one year of football. Green has the physical tools to be a very good prospect at the next level. The first thing you notice on film is Green never slows down. He plays with a non-stop motor and never gives up on a play. He is raw but there is enough physical talent for Green to draw interest from D1 programs. (Video Link)
At Dr. Phillips they have one of the best safeties in the state of Florida in Hasean Clinton Dix. Another talented safety prospect in Orlando is Corian Hamilton. He can play either free or strong safety in college. He has the size to play close to the line of scrimmage (6′2-215) and the speed, quickness and range to go back into pass coverage. Hamilton has flown under the radar somewhat but we expect that to change this spring. (Video Link)
Over the years Olympia has had some pretty good running backs. One back that has made a name for him this year is Jairus Pace. He is a bigger back (6′0-210) which some schools may like more. He is more of a quick back then fast. He can make the first guy miss. Pace can run between the tackles or bounce it outside. Pace also has pretty good hands so helping out in the passing game is an option. (Video Link)
At receiver Olympia has two prospects that we will showcase. One is Henry Eaddy who is more of a slot receiver. (Video Link) Then you have Isaiah Myers (Video Link) who could end up either inside as a slot or outside. Eaddy is a smaller but quicker receiver. His top end speed is good enough. You will see him make some big plays on film. Eaddy is at his best on little bubble screens and catching the ball across the middle of the field. He is tough for someone his size. Henry is willing to go up and make the tough catches across the middle of the field. Myers is more of a possession receiver who will be counted on to catch the ball on third down. He has good ball skills and can adjust well to the football when it is in the air. He is a solid prospect who should get some FCS looks this up-coming season.
The last prospect from Olympia we will take a look at is Darryl Monroe. He is an undersized linebacker (5′11-195) who will most likely have to play safety in college. He does not mind coming up and smacking a ball carrier in the mouth. He is physical for someone his size. What you like is he does a good job of wrapping up the ball carrier on film. (Video Link)
Even though we don’t have any film up of Collin Sheppy, he does not need to go unnoticed. It is hard to miss him as Sheppy is 6′4, 285 pounds. He moves pretty well for a big lineman. We feel his best position will be either guard or center in college.
Final Thoughts: Olympia has a nice team coming back for the 2010 season. They should have plenty of college recruiters on campus this spring with all the prospects they will have returning. We feel that Green and Hamilton will help out the rest of their teammates because many college coaches will be coming to see them this fall. Look for Olympia to have a nice squad next season and possibly make some noise.
