Rabassa starting to draw interest from BCS Schools!
ESS takes a look two prospects from Columbus high school. Coach Chris Merritt has had some very good players come through his program and for the class of 2011 nothing will change. The two players ESS will look at are Anthony Rabassa and Brandon Bradley. Rabassa recently received an offer from Florida State. The list of BCS schools offering him should continue to grow. He has been a star on the defensive line for Columbus the past two seasons. Bradley is the brother of Jakhari Gore who just finished his final season at Columbus. ESS breaks down both prospects and what their future holds.
Anthony Rabassa- With as important as pass rushers are in college football, Rabassa will draw plenty of interest from college coaches from across the country. He can play either linebacker or defensive end in college. Rabassa is a 6′3, 215-220 pound out-side linebacker/defensive end. He comes off the ball quickly and gets to the quarterback before most linemen can lay a hand on him. His ability to put pressure on the quarterback is going too big for him. There are not enough pass rushers to go around. Rabassa strength is getting to the quarterback. If you single block Rabassa the odds are he will get the best of that offensive tackle. His ability to get into the backfield quickly also makes him tough against the run. He does a good job of redirecting if facing a back or receiver in space. Rabassa is a prospect to keep an eye on as his stock should continue to rise. (Highlight Video)
Brandon Bradley-With Bradley you get a prospect who is also very versatile. He could end up at either linebacker or strong safety at the next level. He is another versatile athlete who can play multiple positions in college. While he may play linebacker, Bradley is a bit under size at 5′11-190 pounds. He is built more like a strong safety then an outside linebacker. If he does play linebacker we feel his best spot is at the WILL. He is best in space. He is not the type of backer you want trying to shed blocks all game long. In pass coverage, Bradley more then holds his own. This is one of the reasons we could see him playing safety in college. Final Thoughts: Columbus added Tacoi Sumler who comes over from Gulliver Prep. We featured him earlier this year and his stock continues to rise. Look for Columbus to have a few more prospects start to shine through spring football. We will look to add more hi-lights from their football team after spring ball. This is a team that always seems to have solid D1 prospects. There will be some D1-AA and D2 kids who get looks as well.
