One of South Florida’s best JJ Worton!

At ESS, we like to make sure that not only do the top prospects in the State of Florida get notice so do the underdogs. One prospect that has caught our eye this season is JJ Worton of South Dade. The talented wide-out is one of the best at his position in South Florida. He has the tools to take his talents to the next level and have success. ESS will break down the talented receiver and give you insight into what to expect in college.

What we like: The first thing that stands out about JJ on the football field is his toughness. He will go out and get physical with a defensive back. JJ is not the type of receiver that a defensive back is going to outmuscle at the line of scrimmage. He can get a clean break off the line of scrimmage and get open. JJ is also very good at running routes. He knows how to get open. When he gets open then Worton knows what do with the football. There are very few receivers in South Florida that are as polished at running routes as Worton. When you need an important third down catch, Worton will get open. He can move the chains.

What he needs to work on: There is not much for him not to work on. He does not have home-run speed. Worton probably runs in the 4.6 range which is plenty fast enough to play at the next level. If he had 4.4 speed there would be plenty of BCS schools lining up to sign him. He also just needs to continue working hard in the weight room. He can end up a 6′3, 220 pound receiver at the next level.

Final Thoughts: Worton is a relatively unknown prospect. He also plays a position that is loaded with talent this year in Florida. We feel that with the right opportunity that Worton will end up one of the real surprises to come out of this year’s class. He has a chance to go somewhere and make and instant impact.
