Godfrey headlines UCF class!
Godfrey headlines UCF class!

When George O’Leary signed on to become UCF Head Football Coach he put together a staff that could go out and land top rated prospects from Florida.  Led by Wide Receiver Coach Dave Kelly, he has accomplished that goal. UCF added Geoff Collins from University of Alabama to bolster their staff this off-season.

Coach Kelly first goal this off-season was to land Jeff Godfrey from Miami Central. He is the top rated quarterback in Florida this year. Godfrey gives the Golden Knights their first elite quarterback prospect since Daunte Cullpepper donned a UCF uniform.

What does this mean to UCF? It finally gives them a quarterback who they can trust passing the football. Since O’Leary has been at UCF their passing attack has been inconsistent. Godfrey gives them stability at the quarterback position that they have so desperately lacked. Godfrey will also draw the attention of other top recruits. His commitment also brought the verbal commitment of his top receiver Joshua Reese. He is one of the top route runners in Florida this year and Reese produced at a very high level in 2009.

Not only is Reese on his way this has to be a good sign for UCF who is in the running for Brandon Gainer . He is one of the top running backs in the entire state of Florida.  These three players would signify that UCF is finally on the road to becoming a major player in college football.

Some of the others coaches who have made their presence felt on the UCF staff are Dave Huxtable, Tim Salem and George Godsey who have all helped out in landing some of these top prospects in Florida.

Here is a look inside the rest of UCF class at this time: EJ Dunston-DT-Edgewater, Blake Bortles-TE-Oviedo, Jordan Ozerities-CB-Mount Dora, Zach Soto-OL-Miami Pace, Andrew Rice-DT-Lake Mary, Justin and Jordan McCray-OL-Miami Southridge, Perry Meiklejohn-OG-Westminister Chr., Woodley Cadet-DB, Cornelius Whitehead-DB-Mount Dora Bible and Jamal McClain-CB-Miami Central.

With this type of class, University of Central Florida fans have to be excited about the future of their program.
