Kaleb Johnson and his teammate Casey Turner come up short against Tallahassee Lincoln!
ESS has travelled around the state of Florida to give high school football fans a look at schools from across the state. Last night we were on hand to witness one of the premier programs in the state of Florida (Lincoln Trojans) take on Jacksonville Ed White. Both teams fought hard and the game was within reach for late in the 4th quarter for Ed White trailing by only a touchdown. Not until quarterback Ryan White scored on a nice touchdown run was the game finally over. Lincoln prevailed behind impressive performances by both White and linebacker Mark Wilson. Ed White got nice performances by Jacobi Green and Casey Turner. ESS breaks down both teams and gives you insight into their top prospects.
It seems like every year Lincoln puts out some of the top prospects in the state of Florida. ESS has insight on the class of 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 for the Lincoln Trojans.
They are led by Linebacker Marc Wilson. He led the Trojans with 15 tackles on the night. Wilson showed great instincts in this game. He has a nose for the football and was all over the field. He also packs a punch once Wilson gets to the ball carrier.
Not only was Wilson impressive so was linebackers Tony Moore and Tony Harris. Harris also was one of the team leaders for Lincoln with close to 10 tackles on the night.
For the class of 2012 watch out for safety Marcus Wilson. He had a punt block which was returned for a touchdown. He also had five tackles for the Lincoln defense. For such a young player he did not mind coming up and playing in run support. Wilson is one of the better young safeties in Florida and should receive a ton of attention.
Where games are won and lost is up front. Last night’s game was no different as Lincoln offensive line played very well. Led by senior offensive lineman Cody Gibson who is committed to South Carolina the Lincoln line dominated the 2nd half of the game.
Another name to remember is Mike Reynolds. The talented junior scored twice and was a main reason why Lincoln took over the game in the 2nd half. He shows nice burst to get into the open field.
Others to keep an eye on: Mark Bodkin-DL(2011), Keondrick Daniels-WR-(2011), Chris Garye-WR-(2011), Carlos Gaston-K/P, Jalen Malone Wallcer-DL-(2011), Ralph Andrades-WR-(2012), James Hearns-DE-(2013) and Ben Robinson-DB-(2013).
For Ed White they are led by an impressive rushing attack. Running Back Casey Turner (FIU Commit) had a couple of real nice runs. He runs well between the tackles and can also bounce it outside and pick up the big gains. He was helped by his teammate Jacobie Green. He also had some real nice runs for Ed White.
Leading the way for Ed White is 2011 offensive guard Kaleb Johnson. The 6′4, 275 pound guard is one of the better offensive linemen for the class of 2011. His ability to get to the 2nd level and play with an aggressive style that not many high school lineman play with is what was impressive.
