Baxter is a fast rising star for the class of 2011!

When it comes to producing talent Homestead has had some great players come through their program. University of Miami linebacker and current coach Michael Barrow played at Homestead. Most recently UCF receiver AJ Guyton and UM defensive end Marcus Robinson walked the halls at Homestead. Up next for Homestead is Keith Baxter. He plays cornerback for the Broncos and should be one of the best in Dade County next season. The talented defensive back also runs track for the 4×100 team. He is a great athlete that many college coaches will take a look at this spring. Here is ESS breakdown of Baxter.

What you have to like about Baxter: For a cornerback Baxter is very aggressive. We had the opportunity to see him play against Miami Palmetto and Baxter was all over the field making tackles. He has both the size and speed to make an impact at the next level. With receivers getting bigger and faster, cornerbacks have to keep up with the times. Baxter has the physical tools to go against the new breed of receivers that all seem to be well over 6’0 tall. His speed allows him to match up against smaller and quicker receivers. He size allows him to match up against bigger receivers. He has the total package as far as physical talent is concerned.

What he needs to work on: Baxter is so aggressive that opposing offenses can take advantage. He needs to play a little more under control. It is nice to have a player that wants to be aggressive. It is also important not to be too aggressive and get out of position. Baxter also needs to learn not to get caught looking in the backfield.

Final Thoughts: If Baxter can get his grades up and stay focused on the football field we expect him to have a lot of interest come his way at that time. With his speed and athletic ability there are going to be plenty of colleges that show interest in the talented defensive back. Baxter is solid D1 prospects that will see his offer list grow during spring football.
