Elite is on a mission to bring you coverage of as many teams in Florida as we can. One team that we had the opportunity to watch recently was Miami Springs. Coach Alex Pacheco leads a squad that does not lack talent. While they don’t have the overall #’s of teams like Miami Northwestern or Miami Central, springs does have some top flight prospects. They are led by a super sophomore Rahkeem Coto. Along with Coto they have guys like Willis Wright-(Safety/Receiver), Randy Williams (Linebacker), Kenneth Holmes (Receiver), Lendall Pleasure (Defensive End) and Elkeith Webster (Defensive Back).

Over the past few years South Florida has started to produce some very talented quarterbacks. Jacory Harris (University of Miami/Northwestern High), Eugene Smith (West Virginia/Miramar), Jeff Godfrey (Miami Central), Teddy Bridgewater (Northwestern) and next up Cato. He will try and continue the success of South Florida signal callers at the high school level. What you have to like about Cato is he already measures in above 6′0. He is probably close to 6′1. Considering he is only entering his sophomore season that is quite impressive. You can bet he will only continue to get better by now and the start of his senior season.

Cato favorite weapon this year will be none other then Willis Wright. The talented receiver/safety prospect is a player we saw for the first time last year against Piper High School. He was already one of the best players on his team back then. Now he enters his senior season as one of the top players in Florida. He is a big, strong, physical receiver that can punish a defense. He also has enough speed and quickness to make the big play.

Speaking about big plays when Miami Springs wants one they will go to their other receiver Kenneth Holmes (Class of 2011). When you first meet Kenneth your first impression is no way. After watching him run a few routes you understand that the kid can make the big play for Miami Springs offense this upcoming season. He is probably going to get some interest from the FCS schools next year and possibly some D1 programs.

On defense springs does not have a ton of guys but the few they have are pretty darn good. Led by linebacker/defensive Randy Williams, springs will rely on him to make plays on the defensive side of the football. They will also count on defensive back Elkeith Webster and Ladell Pleasure to help out. These three will be counted on heavily to make things happen on defense for Miami Springs.

Final Thoughts: Coach Pacheco has a team that will be led by a talented sophomore quarterback. With Cato leading the way Miami Springs should be able to compete in every game. Along with Super talented receiver Willis Wright they have two big time players to build their team around. The question is now can Miami Springs be more then competitive and beat some of top teams to make a run at the playoffs? With players like Cato and Wright, we feel their odds will go up and that should make spring fans happy. Miami Springs is a team that high school football fans need to keep an eye on this fall. They should be fun to watch.
