One of the most versatile and athletic players in the Jacksonville area this year is OL/DT Tramell Williams from Lee High School.  Williams stands at 6-foot-2 and 1/2, 260 pounds.  He’s shed about 15 pounds since last year, which has already paid dividends.  At the UA Combine this spring Tremell ran a 4.91 forty and he says he hopes to shave another tenth of a second off of that by the summer.

QB Rothman Anxious To Get That First Offer

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

marshyl-rothman1Spring is the time of year for players to start making a name for them selves, and that’s just what Marshyl Rothman of Jupiter Christian is doing.  Rothman, who has already won two state titles and has a 27-1 record as a starter does not have a D1 offer, yet.  His 5-foot-10 frame is the only thing holding him back from being mentioned with prospects like Brandon Doughty, Brion Carnes, Trey Burton and Turner Baty.

Dunkley Makes an Early Splash at Tampa 7-on-7

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

chris-dunkley-2

Last weekend in Tampa, Chris Dunkley showed why he’ll be one of the top rated receivers in the ’10 class.  At 5-foot-11 and 175 pounds Dunkley is a burner, running a 4.43 forty.  Dunkley, from Royal Palm Beach high school, dominated corners all weekend with his speed and leaping ability.  He highlighted the weekend on the final play of the game when he caught a 30 yard TD pass from QB Marshyl Rothman.  With no time remaining Dunkley beat his man on a fly route and continued running through the endzone and into the parking lot where his teammates followed and a celebration ensued. Palm Beach Team Celebrates Their Victory over Alabama!

Palm Beach Team Celebrates Their Victory over Alabama!

By: Josh Newberg

This weekend Scout.com/Badger hosted a 7-on-7 tournament on the campus of USF in Tampa. Over 300 prospects were on-hand and there were 17 teams made up of recruits from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina. The Florida recruits were in abundance and accounted for 13 of the 17 teams.

In the end it came down to a heated match-up between team Alabama and team Palm Beach of Florida. The two day round-robin tournament was won by the kids from Palm Beach. Team Palm Beach was quarterbacked by Marshyl Rothman and he got plenty of help from guys like Chris Dunkley, Gerald Christian, DeJoshua Johnson and Matt Elam. The game was a close one, with 20 seconds left Palm Beach led 19-12 and added a late score on a bomb from Rothman to Dunkley with no time on the clock.

Alabama was loaded with talent as well, their quarterback Cody Blanchard showed why he’s an upper D1 prospect along with WR Maudrecus Humphrey and DB DeMarcus Millner. However, the Florida speed and athleticism was too much for the boys from Alabama. One player on team Palm Beach single handedly took over the game and that was CB Merrill Noel from Pahokee. He was so aggressive at the snap of the ball that none of the Alabama receivers that faced him could get off the line. Eventually the Alabama coaches and fans became more interested with Noel then what was going on in the game, which proved to be the turning point for team Palm Beach.

Red Raiders trying to make their mark in Florida!
Red Raiders trying to make their mark in Florida!

By: Elite Scouting Services Staff

Recently we discovered that the Red Raiders of Texas Tech offered wide receiver Kadrone Boone of Trinity Catholic. During the same time Texas Tech offered another Florida receiver in Shawn Corker. Like with Boone, Corker brings to an offense a receiver with both the size and speed to make a difference. Corker also brings a potential star down the road as he continues to learn the position. We expect Corker to come up big this year and become one of the elite players at his position in the state of Florida. Considering how many great receivers there is this year that would be quite a feat.

Elite spoke to Coach Matt Debuc and asked him about his star receiver, “Corker has a chance to be a big time player for us this year. He has not even come close to his potential and we feel that once at the next level Corker has a chance to be a star,” Debuc said.

USC Comes Through With Offer!

USC Comes Through With Offer!

By: Elite Scouting Services Staff

The first time Elite Scouting Services saw Delvin Jones, he was only a freshman at Homestead High School. Two years later we made the trip over to LaSalle High School and noticed this 6′5, 230 pound receiver. We realized quickly that Jones had transferred over to a new school. Jones pretty much stood out in every drill. In the first weeks of the season Delvin recorded multiple sacks in pretty much every game he played in. He also played some receiver for LaSalle. After a great junior year Delvin name started to get onto the recruiting radar.

What came next was a 7-0n-7 event where Delvin tried out for the team. With reporters from pretty much every internet site in attendance they all found out what we already knew, Delvin Hughes was a the real deal. After his performance Delvin received multiple offers. One offer that Delvin was really waiting for came in the mail recently. Delvin contacted us about his most recent offer, here is what he had to say,” USC offered, that’s the one offer I really wanted. They are a great program and one that I am definitely interested in,” Delvin Said. USC is not the only big time program to offer Delvin; he received his first offer from University of Tennessee. We got another text from Delvin today telling us how UCF has offered. This trend of offers should continue through the summer.

Texas Tech making run at top receiver in Florida
Texas Tech making run at top receiver in Florida

By: Elite Scouting Services Staff

When Mike Leach took over the Texas Tech program, he brought a style of football that would light up opposing teams score boards. With that type of excitement brought some pretty special players through Lubbick. One of those players was wide receiver Wes Welker. The former Red Raider now plays for the New England Patriots where he has become one of the best slot receivers in the NFL. He is not the only receiver that has made a name for himself. Michael Crabtree while not an elite receiver coming out of high school, he was able to make a name for himself at the college level. What both of these receivers brought to the Texas Tech offense was the ability to make the big play. Earlier today Tech tried to fill that void left behind from Crabtree by offering a scholarship to wide receiver Kadrone Boone. The gifted receiver from Trinity Catholic in Florida has a very similar style of play compared to Crabtree.
