Radcliff was part of a rushing attack that had over 200 yards on the ground!

Week one started at FIU South between Columbus vs. Palmetto. The Panthers defense did a good job early keeping Columbus offense from getting much going. Palmetto had their opportunities early on to not only keep the game close but take the lead. They kept Columbus from getting in a flow. Right before the half, Palmetto was down 7-0 with less than 1 minute remaining when bad luck struck. As Wyatt Chickillo rolled out to pass he was hit from behind, fumbled the ball and Columbus took it in for a 14-0 halftime lead. Any chance that Palmetto had to in this game was squashed to start the 2nd half as Columbus went right down the field and scored again. After they took a 21-0 lead the game was pretty much over with.

Lang chooses to be a Bull!

Lang chooses to be a Bull!

This past week was slow as far as commitments go. Only two prospects decided to pull the trigger this past week: Demetris Anderson (Ft Pierce Westwood) and Max Lang (Boone HS). Lang was a prospect that early on drew a ton of attention. His recruitment of late flew under the radar. He decided to stay close to home and go to University of South Florida. For Anderson he spurned some of the top programs in college football by surprising a lot of people and choosing UCF. The Golden Knights continue to put together one of the best recruiting classes in school history.

Breon Allen looking to lead Warner Christian to state title!

Breon Allen looking to lead Warner Christian to state title!

Since Coach Pete Walker has taken over at Glades Day he has quickly turned them into a football power. Glades Day has won two state titles over the past few years. Success is nothing new for Glades Day as they have won State titles with another Walker: Byron who is now at American Heritage Plantation. Pete has a team this year that should once again be amongst the best in class 1B. They will be led by All-American Kelvin Taylor. He comes off a state championship performance that was one of the best all time.

Herve Coby looking to lead Heritage back to state final!
Herve Coby looking to lead Heritage back to state final!

In class 1A the defending state champions American Heritage Delray looks to repeat. This is a team that may be as talented as anyone in Florida this year. The Stallions have as many as 6-7 D1 prospects on their team in 2010. Led by senior Herve Coby they should be tough to beat this upcoming season. Their biggest challenge will come from Ft. Meade. In the northern part of Florida Trinity Christian may end up meeting them again in the finals.

Top 2012 prospect John Theus!

Top 2012 prospect John Theus!

Jacksonville Bolles is the power in Class 2B. Not much will change as Bolles should once again be a favorite in Class 2B to make a run at the state title game in Orlando. This year will be tougher because Bolles has lost some very good players on both sides of the ball. Teams that have a chance to knock off the mighty Bolles are Chaminade, Gulliver Prep, Pensacola Catholic and possibly Lake Highland Prep who won 10 games last season. ESS will break down 2B to see who makes it to Orlando.

Inside the Huddle: Miami Norland

by Charles Fishbein | August 16th, 2010 @ 9:37AM | General Football | 0 Comments

The Duke is in charge!

The Duke is in charge!

It has been a long time since Miami Norland has been in the discussion for a state title. This year Norland has a team that many around the program feel good about. Coach Daryle Heidelberg has a pretty good team coming back in 2010. They are led by running back Randy “Duke” Johnson. He should be one of the top players in the class of 2012. Not only will they have Johnson but Norland has a very good group of receivers. They are led by  Brandon Snell who is coming off an impressive spring. Curtis Mitchell, Dareen Owi and Gary Lodge give the Vikings plenty of weapons at their disposal this upcoming season. The guy getting them the ball is quarterback is Benji Philippe. He needs to step up his game for Norland to have a legit shot at making a run this year. Up front the Vikings will have a few good prospects, Pierre Meignan (2011), Teko Powell (2012) and William Townsend (2013).  Keith Brown will be one of the top linebackers in the class of 2012 so he is also a player to watch out for. ESS will break down the rest of their team as Norland gets ready for the 201o season.
