Fort Myers 2010 Combine Flyer

Impressive event heads to Fort Myers Bishop Verot, March 27

The Elite Scouting Services High School Football Camp/Combine season kicks off the 2010 season on the west coast with a March 27 event at Bishop Verot High School (5598 Sunrise Drive, Ft. Myers, FL. 33919).

With three scheduled for this season in South Florida and in the Tampa Bay area, beginning the year in Southwest Florida was exactly what ESS President Charles Fishbein has planned after a successful 350-player event at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale last year.

“Each year, our plan was to add more events in different areas of the state,” said Fishbein, who also organized the first ever-small college combine, which attracted nearly 180 athletes at Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna Prep School. “We set down a formula last year where everyone who attended got a lot from the event.”

Darryl Monroe-Olympia LB trying to make a name for himself!

Darryl Monroe-Olympia LB trying to make a name for himself!

Last year Olympia High sent two players to Northwestern; Trevor Simien-QB and Rashard Jackson-WR. Both prospects were amongst the top prospects at their position in Central Florida. This year Olympia brings back one of the most talented junior classes in the state. When you look at their junior class there could be as many as 4-5 players who could receive D1 offers. The top prospect for Olympia this year will be Deon Green. He has only played one year of football for Olympia. Along with Green on defense Olympia has a top rated safety in Corian Hamilton. He already has offers from some BCS school. The third prospect on the Olympia football team that will draw some interest this spring is running back Jairus Pace.

Tom Smith-One of Central Florida's top talents!

Tom Smith-One of Central Florida's top talents!

With spring football right around the corner there is one team that should be considered one of the contenders for the 6A Crown in 2010 is Apopka. Along with Dr. Phillips, Apopka returns one of the more talented teams in Central Florida. They will be led by talented senior Tom Smith. He will be one of the most sought after backs in Central Florida this season. He is a bigger back (5′10-210) who can run both between the tackles and outside. Most of his runs we will focus on will be to the outside. Along with Smith is his backfield mate Qua Barnes. The talented sophomore now looks towards his junior season where Barnes will start to draw some attention his way. Even though he is the smaller of the two backs, Barnes runs between the tackles. One of the guys leading the way for both backs is Ty Darlington. He was only a sophomore last season. He is already one of Apopka best offensive lineman.

Under the radar prospect Chris Curtis-DE/OLB

ESS takes an inside look at the Dr. Phillips Panthers. They will once again be one of the top teams in Central Florida next season. They lost to Deland who ended up playing for a State Title against Miramar. We expect Dr. Phillips to once again be one of the favorites to play for the 6A Crown in 2010. Look out for prospects like Demetrius Hart, Ha-Sean Clinton Dix, Laquinton Smith, Roderick Ryles and Chris Curtis. All should get looks from D1 programs next season. Below is a breakdown of each prospect to watch out for and their hi-light clips.

Ed Foley just waiting for an opportunity!

Ed Foley just waiting for an opportunity!

The State of Florida turns out over 300+ D1 prospects every year. This year will be no different but those numbers could close as high as 400 for the class of 2010. Among those that have yet to commit is Darrin Kitchens on Homestead High School. The heat has turned up for the talented linebacker and he now has teams like Florida and Florida State battling it out for his services. He is not the only prospect on the board that has yet to make a decision on where he is going to school. We discuss all of the big name prospects on ESS but the guys who have slid under the radar need to be talked about as well.
