Coach’s Corner: Be Productive On, Off Field

Athletes,

If you are serious about your recruiting process, then you need to read this post from start to finish. if you are serious and want gain exposure for your recruiting process you should do the following things:

No. 1 — Attend your high School practice daily, on time, and Be Productive.

No. 2 — Attend school and ALL of your classes Daily and Be Productive.

No. 3 — Get on the field on Friday Night and Be Productive. Leave it all on the field.

No. 4 — Attend a Camp and Be Productive. If you are still reading and following the key phrase is to Be Productive in all phases of the process.

No. 5 — This summer when you evaluating schools that you may consider attending, you should contact the coaches at the school and make them aware of your intentions to attend camp at their respective school. In other words, why should they recruit you if you refuse to get on campus for a camp session?

If you are contacted by a recruiting coordinator, let your recruiting coach know that you will be in attendance and that you would like to be evaluated. Contact the camp office a few days prior to the camp that you are planning to attend and tell the person who answers the telephone your name, position and high school.

Confirm which coach recruits your area or position. Write down their name and get their direct email address and phone number. Ask to be transferred to them—let them know or leave a voicemail telling them that you are coming to the camp in a couple days (don’t call much sooner, they will forget), that you are emailing your highlight tape right now and would like an evaluation, if possible, at the camp.

Email them a link to your most recent highlights and include your name, high school, position, grad year, height, weight and contact information along with the camp date that you will be attending. When you arrive to check-in, ask a staff member if your recruiting coach is there and to point them out or see if they are able to introduce you to them.

Tell them you are excited to be there say you would hope to get an evaluation and see if they had a chance to look at the highlights that you sent them. Persistence is the key for results. So there you have it, this concludes my two cents. I am by far no expert, just experienced in the process.
